Advice on how to counter Iran (Haaretz Daily)Former Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Peter Rodman, who just recently joined the Brookings Institute, wrote a lengthy paper on the best ways to counter Iran. It is best to dispense, first of all, with the clich?? that this conflict is the core of all the problems in the Middle East. Referring to the Israeli-Palestinian linkage Rodman writes that “It is best to …
Nathan Englander says it feels strange to be on a book tour again because, you know, it has been a while — eight years, to be exact, since his debut story collection “For the Relief of Unbearable Urges” came out of nowhere, won the PEN/Malamud Prize and made…One-hit wonder? Hardly. He was just taking his time. (San Francisco Chronicle)

Resolved Question: Atheists and Christians- What were your parents views on “Religion” ?What were your parents views on “Religion” … Did your parents belief in God, yes no? If so, what religious affiliation, if not were they Atheists , Agnostics, Wiccan, Pagan? Thanks for any answers in advance.*I am asking these two catagories, because they are who I most see “going at it” on here. LOL
How many perspectives have you chosen to view the universe and why do you only look at it through one? What makes what you believe in right and others wrong?I dont follow any affiliation-just wanna hear what the community is thinking on thisResolved Question: To all religious affliations?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmWrpi4wngEUpside : He brought joy to countless fans around the world through his music, and created a sense of community among Deadheads that has begun to evaporate over time.Downside : He was a known drug addict, and while not listed as an official cause on his death certificate, drugs most likely expedited his demise.I have no idea what his religious affiliation was, but he struck me as the type who *would* have believed in a god.Jayelle posted a question earlier tonight that inspired this question.Resolved Question: Believers : Do you think Jerry Garcia went to Heaven?
did anyone besides myself watch CNN this morning when they were trying to rationalize the young man’s “ISHMAEL AX”, citing biblical/religious characters first, before the numerous poetic characters that could it could be linked to and say to yourself “oh crap, it’s gonna be a long day on R & S”?just for the record: this young man was very disturbed and sick in the head, irregardless of his religous affiliation.fuddles and reigan….cut me some slack, i AM from the south, we ain’t supposed to use proper english.

Jury duty summons came in the mail for my husband, who is a chiropractor. He is self employed and would have to close his business to go, and his patients would be off their treatment plans. What is good way to get out of jury duty? This wouldn’t just affect his income, but also the health of his patients because it’s important not to miss appointments. This is what I plan to tell them, but would like a back up reason just in case.Serious answers please, he cannot commit a felony or act prejudiced or act like he is crazy. The form doesn’t even ask form much personal information, just medical history and religious affiliations, both optional. He shouldn’t have to go because of public necessity, as the form states. BTW, mr. liberal, my husband is a gulf war veteran, so you can’t complain to me about that. To those who keep saying he has a civic duty, let me ask you this…How would you feel if your doctor couldn’t provide care for you when you needed it? I live in a small mid-west community and finding coverage is impossible. Just to take a 4 day weekend requires 6 months of careful appointment scheduling.Resolved Question: What is the best way to get out of jury duty? Read on…?
Resolved Question: Did Jesus Teach That There Can Be Only One True Religion?Did Jesus actually teach that there can be only one true religion or did He teach how people can worship God? His teachings seemed to be less religious and more spiritual. Take the Good Samaritan for example, he clearly stated that the true follower was someone who was merciful to everyone regardless of affiliation. Did Jesus teach of a true religion or of a true path?
Resolved Question: Open casket wake, Children 9 and 12 should they go to the wake or just the funeral? My father is terminally ill and it looks like it won’t be long before he passes.I’ve already decided that my kids will just go to the funeral instead of viewing the body. We’re Christians and we see it as totally unneccesary for them to be exposed to such gore. We celebrate life and afterlife, not death. I don’t even want to see it, but will be present for the sake of family. I think they will get enough “closure” out of the funeral.Anyway, as you can see my mind is pretty much made up, but I just want to put it out there. If there are any compelling reasons why you would disagree with me, I’d like to hear your opinion. Please also state your religious affiliation.Thanks.
