Open Question: Would America Be Better Off With an Atheist President?*Sigh* I know there’s never been an atheist U.S. president in history (or at least publicly known), but I think this answer I got from 006 summed my opinion up pretty well..”America would be better off with an atheist president, because he would not give precedence to one religious affiliation over any others, and he would base his decisions purely on what is for the greater good of America, without being influenced by the prophecies of whatever religion he follows. It’s no coincidence that the Bible calls for the re-establishment of Israel and our unilateral support for that country which has different laws for different races (something which is totally un-constitutional).God did not choose GWB to lead this nation, we the people did, for better or for worse. “

Resolved Question: What is Barak Obama’s religious affiliation?I don’t ask form bigotry, I just am curious because in spite of the religio-political focus so prevalent today, I have not heard this information. I am very impressed with Obama and think he could be the first of his race to serve as chief executive. That last answer was off the mark. I didn’t say his religion had nothing to do with him, I just said I was curious.
If so, what affiliation?Resolved Question: Are you religious or non-religious?

Resolved Question: A “neutral” kippah…????The kippah you use says much about you…”In Israel wearing a kippah also has a social significance. While wearing a kippah shows that you are somewhat religious, not??wearing one is like stating, “I’m not religious.” The style of kippah in Israel can also indicate political and religious affiliations. Classical orthodoxy uses a large, smooth, black one shaped like a bowl. Many Hasidim use large black felt or satin, and a “rebellious son” may wear a slightly smaller black kippah to show his independence while remaining in the Classicist camp. Another play on this rebellion is to wear a knitted black kippah. This is also usually used to confuse people as to where you stand”.So.. if you wanna use a “neutral” kippah, wich kind of kippah would you use???

Resolved Question: Why on earth is ?Merry Christmas? more appropriate than ?Happy Holidays???Perhaps the most ridiculous concern of those who howl about the mythological ?war on Christmas? is the claim that the greeting ?Happy Holidays? undermines the religious origins of the season.Swing and a miss.Webster?s Dictionary refers to the origin of the word ?holiday? as ?holy day.? Etymology: Middle English, from Old English hAligd??g, from hAlig holy + d??g day. Info.com offers this definition ?. a religious feast day? or ?holy day.?Thus the greeting ?Happy Holidays? is the equivalent to ?Happy Holy Days.?Because there is ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER that the etymology of the phrase ?Happy Holidays? has theological origins, one could accurately conclude that those who find the greeting unacceptable don?t reject it on its lack of religious affiliation, but rather because it does not EXCLUSIVELY accommodate their particular religious affiliation. That, my friends, can only be regarded as an example of intolerance. So “Happy Holidays” to one and all!
And How would you react if a family member of yours was gay?just doing some reasearch!Resolved Question: What is your religious affiliation?

When people come on here with banal problems like debt, relationships, health etc they generally get sincere and genuine helpful advice?..And when questions are asked about religious or political issues, the answers most frequently contain unhelpful, vindictive slanders frequently from those same respondents? Does this tell us something? My motto if someone’s in trouble or injured, pick them up..ask questions if necessary of their political and religious affiliations laterPlease read the question? What I’m asking is that why do otherwise fanatical Zealots answer with compassion and sincerity on everyday problems that trouble all of us? Whence the dichotomy? or is there really good and hope within all of us?Resolved Question: Don’t you notice?…?
Resolved Question: An Arab going soon to US soon , How will people deal with me ?I’m a 35 yo Arab going on a business trip to Rochester , NY soon. In order for your answer to be considered for “best”, you must indicate your own religious background (i.e. “none”, “protestant”, “muslim”, “mormon”, etc.) Christians, please specify whether Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox. Mormons please indicate that you are “mormon” or “LDS”. Resolved Question: Did anyone notice that there are 3 liberals and a moderate carved into Mount Rushmore?PLEASE if you are not smart enough to know that political affiliation does not determine your being conservative or liberal, or that Lincoln was the only one who was a member of the present day GOP DO NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION Jefferson was an agnostic who slept with a black slave named Sally Hemmings. He was a revolutionary traitor to the Crown who championed religious freedom and was anti slavery (very liberal ideas for there time. As President he cut military spending supported the French revoloution and had the louisiana purchase. (a large govt program? sounds pretty liberal)Teddy Roosevelt was a trree hugging, union supporting, Trust buster, who loved Govt regulation started the FDA, SEC S&L Nat Parks dept,Lincoln the south seceded because they thought he was to liberal to defend slavery and southern rightsThe reason this question is on here is to prove that liberal does not equal weak and evil, and that party affiliation may not represent your issue. When Someone disagrees with this question Ill be expecting a lot of personel insults but not much in the way of substance, how bout somebody surprises me?Just FYI I know my history very well so b able to back it upSurfer296 you saved the ConsYou were the only disentor with a well thought out answer with some substance instead of avoiding the premise or just spewing insults. I may not totally agree with you but I will concede your pointRUTH!Im sorry but your ACLU comment is incoherant at best. As far as the constitution goes Lincolns gettysburg adress was an actual refutation of the constitution. It was the way He pointed out that the Declaration of Independance superceded the constitution in that speech that made it so famousAnd Jefferson like Adams before him wasnt in office 10 minutes before he was trying to change the constitution around Adams -Alien and sedition actJefferson by orchestrating changes in the judiciary that was constantly defining the brand new Cnst Not a very good try actually think u coulda done better
looking for your advice concerning the morality of this situation:i am 18 yrs old and i have never met my father. he saw me once when i was 3mos. old. he yanked me from my mother’s arms and said i didnt look like him. about a yr ago i asked a friend to look him up and did get a number. when i told him who i was (i gave him my mother’s name and told him i only wanted to know who he was) he said i was not his problem and hung up.in the beginning all i wanted was his time….. to know where i come from… but he feels i’m not entitled to that.as his child i feel i am entitled to something. does anyone feel it would be immoral to sue for child support? this might mean the difference between my getting my mba or my getting a phd.do you think your religious affiliation has a bearing on your opinion (your view on a parent’s responsibilities, etc)? peace and blessings to allalso, how do you wish good things on(pray for) a person that has caused you so much pain (my family was very poor while i was growing up and my father own’s his own company)? In Islam we are taught to have a great respect for our parents….. is a parent like this entitled to that respect?Resolved Question: are there any ppl in your life that you struggle to wish peace or good things to?
Toys for Tots rejects Jesus dollLOS ANGELES - A talking Jesus doll has been turned down by the Marine Reserves’ Toys for Tots program. A suburban Los Angeles company offered to donate 4,000 of the foot-tall dolls, which quote Bible verses, for distribution to needy children this holiday season. The battery-powered Jesus is one of several dolls manufactured by one2believe, a division of the Valencia-based Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co., based on Biblical figures. But the charity balked because of the dolls’ religious nature.Toys are donated to kids based on financial need and “we don’t know anything about their background, their religious affiliations,” said Bill Grein, vice president of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, in Quantico, Va.As a government entity, Marines “don’t profess one religion over another,” Grein said Tuesday. “We can’t take a chance on sending a talking Jesus doll to a Jewish family or a Muslim family.”http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061114/ap_on_re_us/jesus_dolResolved Question: Why did The Marines forsake Jesus?
